Swing Odyssey
From the Old Continent to American swing
Creation: 2025

Between the colours of Eastern Europe and the inflections of jazz, Swing Odyssey weaves connections between memory and creation.
The composers brought together here have travelled many paths: those of migration, encounters, and cultural cross‑fertilisation.
AN ODYSSEY THROUGH MUSIC IN MOTION
It is not the swing of a single style or era that we invoke, but that of an impulse: the pulse of a music that breathes, takes root, and transforms itself.
From melodies to improvisations, from familiar harmonies to new resonances, Swing Odyssey offers a journey where borders fade away to let the freedom of sound unfold.
The programme takes root in Europe and continues its path towards America, where jazz has been nourished by every possible influence. Along this road between the Old and the New World, traditional music mingles with jazzy syncopations, nostalgia meets energy, and swing becomes a shared language.
From Joseph Joseph by Samuel Steinberg to Petite Fleur by Sidney Bechet, from Django Reinhardt’s Swing 39 to Ukrainian Memory, somewhere between gentle melancholy and jubilant swing, this programme joyfully celebrates the invention of a new sound: that of an open, vibrant and universal music.
Premiered at La Folle Journée de Nantes 2025, Swing Odyssey is now beginning its life on stage and will continue to grow over the seasons to come.
